TAIPEI--The head of the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) said Saturday that the FSC will release a new index in 2015 to evaluate the corporate governance of different companies.
The index, to be announced one year ahead of schedule, is aimed at rewarding companies with good governance, Tseng said during a forum on government and corporate governance. The index could also send an alarm signal to firms that have poor control of their structure, rights and obligations, Tseng said.
This could contribute to better policies relating to corporate governance and raise attention to the issue, he said.
A ranking of companies' corporate governance will be issued by the end of this year, according to Tseng.
