2 moderate earthquakes shake residents of Yilan

TAIPEI--Yilan County in eastern Taiwan was rattled Saturday by two earthquakes measuring at 3.5 and 3.7, respectively, on the Richter scale, the Central Weather Bureau said.

The first quake occurred at 6:46 p.m. and the second at 7:02 p.m., with the epicenters very close to each other in Datong Township, the bureau said. The strongest temblor was felt at an intensity of 4 in Nanshan Township, according to the bureau.
