TAIPEI--There is a thriving demand for project managers, programmers and Web administrators amid the increasingly popular trend of e-commerce, a local e-commerce expert said yesterday.
With traditional enterprises going digital, the demand for such talent will only increase, said Nico An, general manger of Shop123, Taiwan's largest online shopping platform with 7,152 online stores.
Each year, An said, the e-commerce sector in Taiwan needs some 140,000 recruits, adding that within the next three years, there will be a shortfall of over 500,000 people qualified to do these jobs.
E-commerce also changes the division of labor, An noted, explaining that a purchase manager who in the past only bought things now needs to also work like a sales manager.
"Multi-functional talent with synergy are most needed in the B2C (business to customer) world," she said.
