2 S. Koreans arrested for alleged drug-smuggling

TAIPEI--Two South Koreans were arrested Wednesday at Taichung Airport in central Taiwan on charges of smuggling drugs and possessing 4 kilograms of heroin.

According to an initial police investigation, the woman, identified by police only by her surname Shin and her male companion, named Choi, who arrived in Taiwan from Thailand via a transit flight from Hong Kong, were intending to smuggle the drug into the island at the request of people they met in Thailand.

The drugs were discovered hidden in lampshades they were carrying in their backpacks, the police said, adding that the case was being further investigated.
