TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Kuomintang (KMT) Central Standing Committee yesterday nominated Taichung Mayor Jason Hu (胡志強), former National Youth Commission Minister Chen Yi-chen (陳以真) and National University of Tainan President Huang Hsiu-Shuang (黃秀霜) for the mayoral elections in Taichung, Chiayi and Tainan respectively.

In their respective mayoral races, Hu, Chen and Huang will be going up against Democratic Progressive Party Legislator Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍), former DPP Legislator Twu Shiing-jer (涂醒哲) and incumbent Tainan Mayor William Lai (賴清德) of the DPP.

The KMT's nomination committee convened yesterday morning and decided on the list of candidates for the Taichung, Chayi and Tainan mayoral elections. The list was later approved by the ruling party's Central Standing Committee in the afternoon.
