TAIPEI -- Taiwanese youths will have the opportunity for the first time to attend the third review conference of the Mine Ban Treaty that will be held later this year, a government official said Tuesday.
In cooperation with the Taipei-based Eden Social Welfare Foundation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will choose five Taiwanese young people who will attend the conference to take place in Mozambique, east Africa, said Ray Mou, director general of the ministry's Department of Non-Government Organization International Affairs.
They will attend a training program offered by Mines Action Canada (MAC) before attending the conference in June as MAC observers, Mou said at a regular news briefing.
