French cyclist wins Tour de Taiwan cycling race

TAIPEI -- French cyclist Remy Di Gregorio claimed the yellow jacket as the overall winner of the 2014 Tour de Taiwan international cycling race, which ended in the southern county of Pingtung Thursday.

Di Gregorio finished the five-day race in 15 hours, 23 minutes and 53 seconds, traveling over 676 kilometers from Taipei in the north to Pingtung.

Taiwan's professional road and track cyclist Feng Chun-kai won the Best Climbers' category for the third year in a row and took the red polka dot jersey.

Feng became the winner of the category, also known as King of the Mountains, by collecting the most of 12 points in the hill-climbing sections of each stage.

Feng described his victory as "unbelievable" and said he won by a close margin this year.

German Fabian Schnaidt clocked three hours, 55 minutes and 27 seconds in the final stage held in the Dapeng Bay Circuit, the fastest among all contestants over the 168-km race.
