NSB places blame on Presidential Office 'hero'

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- In the midst of finding the party responsible for the negligence that resulted in the Presidential Office truck case, the National Security Bureau (NSB) said yesterday that the “heroic” military police serviceman was partly to blame as he did not properly perform his duties.

During the case review session regarding the incident, the NSB held the Republic of China Military Police (ROCMP) responsible for negligence. The NSB personnel stationed at the Presidential Office have distanced themselves from any responsibility, claiming instead that the heroic serviceman who responded to release the barricade failed in his duties entirely.

The MP in question was originally celebrated for reacting fearlessly. The MP activated the barricade during the incident, which was designed to be completely deployed in 8 seconds. However, the truck, which caused the damage to the Presidential Office, broke through 4 seconds into the process, before the barricade could fully perform its functions.

NSB has rebuffed the MP's heroism, stating that the barricade should have been deployed at 10 p.m., 7 hours before the incident happened, meaning that the duties of the MP were not fulfilled. ROCMP replied by saying that the reason why the barricade was not deployed was a result of the president being away from the country.
