Chiang reproaches Executive Yuan for inefficiency

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Former Executive Yuan vice premier Chiang Pin-kun (江丙坤) cited the inefficiency of the Executive Yuan as a factor in his unwillingness to continue his tenure yesterday, during a conference to which he was invited as a guest speaker.

During his address at the "2014 Cross-strait EMBA Elites Forums," jointly organized by the higher management institutions of National Taiwan University and Fudan University of China, Chiang revealed that procedures in the Executive Yuan were unconstructive while he held the position of vice premier.

The results of deliberations are usually discarded and denied when committee meetings are adjourned. "What is the purpose of an executive body like this?" questioned Chiang. Believing that the fundamental ideals on which the laws were built have been corrupted to make the Executive Yuan less efficient, Chiang encourages his fellow citizens to stand up and speak out.

Chiang went on to suggest that Taiwanese political parties should disregard their differences and unite, and they should also study the success of other developed countries like Japan to build a strong and flourishing Taiwan.
