FAT opens new counter at Taichung Airport

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Far Eastern Air Transport (FAT) yesterday held an opening ceremony for its new counter at Taichung Airport.
According to FAT, this is the first time that the airline has established a counter at Taichung Airport, and along with the opening of the new station, the airline also launched a new flight route between Taichung and Kinmen.
FAT said that the routes between Taichung and Kinmen and Taichung and Penghu can earn the airline about NT$400 million in annual profits.
FAT Deputy Manager Lu Chi-jung (盧紀融) said that economic development in the Greater Taichung area is rapid, and Taichung's tourism market potential for residents from the outlaying islands, mini three links, and tourists from mainland China are very high.
According to FAT, the route between Taichung and Magong City will be launched on Apr. 12.
FAT's chief at Taichung Airport Liu Hsing-chung (劉興中) said that with the new FAT counter located in Taichung, the airline can better serve people in the Greater Taichung area and hopefully stimulate an economic boom in Taichung City.
According to FAT, the Taichung-Kinmen flight route can allow more travelers from Central Taiwan to experience different cultures in outlaying islands. The airline also provides different guided tours for people who wish to travel to Kinmen.
FAT said that people who purchase roundtrip tickets between Taichung and Kinmen with scheduled dates between Feb. 22 and March 31 can enjoy 22-percent off on full-priced tickets.
According to FAT, those who book the tickets 14 days prior to their travel dates can also enjoy 30-percent off on the flight tickets.
