Sean Lien calls New York experience 'inspirational'

WASHINGTON--Kuomintang Central Committee member Sean Lien said Thursday he has yet to make a final decision on whether to run for Taipei mayor but said his experience of living in New York was greatly inspirational in terms of public service.

Lien said the amazing reconstruction in New York after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attack allowed him to see the “positive side of politics,” which he said is the only thing that interests him with regard to public service.

“If you really do your job well, you actually can help a lot of people,” said Lien, who lived in New York for seven years in the 1990s. He attended the law school at Columbia University and later Harvard law school.

He reiterated, however, that he is still deliberating whether to seek the KMT's nomination for the election in late November and will make a public announcement by the end of this month.
