CWB forecasts new cold front to hit nation Friday

TAIPEI -- Another cold front could start affecting Taiwan from Friday, bringing more rain to areas as far south as Changhua, the Central Weather Bureau said.

Generally cool and wet weather is forecast island-wide for Wednesday as the Lunar New Year holiday concludes, the bureau added.

Still under the influence of seasonal winds that brought daytime high temperatures down by some 10 degrees the previous day, Taiwan could see a similar weather pattern throughout Wednesday, the forecasters said.

The mercury could hover between 15 and 21 degrees Celsius in Northern Taiwan, 15-24 degrees in Central Taiwan, and 19-25 degrees in Southern Taiwan, according to the bureau.

Northern and Eastern Taiwan could see showers, with the rain expected to ease off from Thursday, it said.

Over the weekend, daytime lows could stay between 12 and 14 degrees island-wide, except for southern parts of the country, it said.
