Milder weather forecast during New Year holiday
CNATAIPEI -- The Lunar New Year holiday in Taiwan is likely to be relatively warm and dry, with average temperatures of around 20 degrees Celsius islandwide, the Central Weather Bureau said Monday. Forecasters said a milder weather pattern is expected from Wednesday, the day before the Lunar New Year's Eve, as the current cold air mass weakens.

Mostly clear skies are expected across the island through the weekend, with occasional showers in eastern Taiwan, the bureau said.
During the holiday period, daytime temperatures of 15-24 degrees are forecast in northern Taiwan, 14-24 degrees in central Taiwan, and 16-24 degrees in southern Taiwan.
However, forecasters cautioned that greater fluctuations in temperatures are likely throughout the holiday and they predicted foggy conditions in western Taiwan in the early morning periods.
