TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Taiwan will accelerate the visa screening process for “quality” Chinese tour groups ahead of the Lunar New Year Holiday, the National Immigration Agency (NIA) said.
Until Jan. 29, Chinese travelers on “quality” packages will be exempt from the quota system that imposes restrictions on tour groups from China, the NIA said.
During the period, visa applications arriving with all required documents before 5 p.m. will be approved on the same day, the NIA said.
The NIA did not define “quality” tour groups, but they apparently referred to higher-priced packages, as opposed to shopping tours.
The NIA also pointed out that professionals and businesspeople from China applying for visas now have to do the process completely online.
