Yet another cold air mass expected for next week

TAIPEI--Already under the influence of a strong cold air mass from China, Taiwan will be hit by another one next week, the Central Weather Bureau forecast yesterday.

The current cold spell is expected to ease up on Jan. 7-8, but the mercury will drop again on Jan. 9 as another cold air mass arrives, with temperatures dropping to 11 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan and showers possible, the bureau predicted.

Despite the cold Taiwan is currently experiencing, the weather should be dry, except in eastern and southeastern Taiwan, where occasional showers are likely, forecasters said.

Temperatures should hit a low of 10 degrees in the northern areas Sunday morning and remain low on Monday before turning warmer on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the bureau's forecast.
