The justice ministry will handle Huang's case “in accordance with procedures” upon receiving the PEC's resolution, an official who asked not to be named said Sunday.
Afterward, Huang will be handed over to the Control Yuan, the government's top watchdog body, for investigation and possible censure, alongside Special Investigation Division section chief Yang Jung-tsung and prosecutor Cheng Shen-yuan, the official said.
The PEC said a day earlier that it would recommend Huang's removal from office and a review by the Control Yuan for apparently presenting classified information to President Ma Ying-jeou that was obtained through questionable wiretaps.
The committee also recommended admonishment for Yang and Cheng, who were both found to bear responsibility in the case.
Huang has already survived one impeachment vote in the Control Yuan. A second impeachment review meeting was scheduled to be held on Dec. 10 but was canceled due to the lack of attendance.
