Rain likely in North and Eastern Taiwan: bureau

TAIPEI -- Northern and Eastern Taiwan could see more rain until Saturday due to increasing seasonal winds, the Central Weather Bureau said yesterday.

Yilan County, Hualien County and mountainous areas in Greater Taipei are likely to see sporadic showers throughout Thursday, while chances of rain might increase in the coming days, forecasters said.

Daytime temperatures in these areas could remain between 20 and 23 degrees Celsius, with lows of between 13 and 15 degrees Celsius, according to the bureau.

Central and Southern Taiwan can expect mostly sunny skies, but the difference between highs and lows could reach more than 10 degrees, the bureau cautioned.

The mercury could hover between 12 and 24 degrees in Central Taiwan, and 16 and 25 degrees in Southern Taiwan, the bureau said.
