Seventeen restaurants receive “Hakka Food” certifications
The China Post news staffTAIPEI, Taiwan -- A total of 17 restaurants recently received “Hakka Food” certificates from the Cabinet-level Council for Hakka Affairs (CHA, 客家委員會) for their exemplary performances in promoting Hakka cuisines nationwide.

At a press conference held on Oct. 23 in Taichung, CHA Minister Huang Yu-cheng (黃玉振) awarded the “Hakka Food” certifications to representatives of the 17 selected restaurants.
Huang praised the restaurants for their excellent promotion of traditional Hakka food among Taiwanese people.
The minister said the selection of these restaurants is part of the CHA-initiated subsidy program to help local Hakka restaurants offer better food and service with the ultimate goal of promoting Hakka food and culture.
With the support of the CHA, chefs in the 17 restaurants also came up with 17 new Hakka dishes to help upgrade the restaurants and create a new chapter for Hakka cuisine.
During the press conference, chefs Chiu Yu-han (邱聿涵) and Su Chang-chuan (蘇琩絟), who were selected by the CHA to attend “le Cordon Bleu” in Paris for three months, also joined the event to showcase the culinary skills they learned from their just-concluded training in France.
