ROC tennis team wins gold at East Asian Games
CNATAIPEI--Taiwan won its first gold medal at the East Asian Games in Tianjin on Monday when it took the men's team tennis event with a 2-1 victory over South Korea.

Taiwan and South Korea split the two singles matches in the team event, leaving the doubles match to decide the outcome.
Peng Hsien-yin and Lee Hsin-han, who play doubles together frequently on the ATP Tour, secured the gold with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Nam Ji Sung and Lim Ji Sup in 58 minutes.
In the earlier singles matches, Taiwan's Yang Tsung-hua, who is still recovering from a knee injury suffered earlier this year, lost to Nam Ji Sung 6-3, 6-7 (6), 7 5 while Huang Liang-chi defeated Na Jung Woong 6-4, 6-1.
The sixth East Asian Games, which began on Sunday, run until Oct. 15.
