Senior managers of Hon Hai yesterday shared the company's vision of developing innovative technologies in the “HTML5 Trend and Technology Application Forum” held by the Department of Industrial Technology and the Institute for Information Industry.
In addition to HTML5, Hon Hai will base its cloud computing research and development in KSTP in the future, and that it will also speed up the commercialization of Firefox OS, Hon Hai said.
Hon Hai plans to cultivate software engineers in Taipei and Kaohsiung, and intends to employ 500-1,000 software engineers in Taipei, and 2,000-3,000 software engineers in Kaohsiung. The engineers in Taipei will focus on the development of critical technologies in operating systems, the optimization of operating system efficiency and software technology development. The engineers in Kaohsiung will focus on the research and development of HTML5 APP, and realize Hon Hai's “eight panels, one network and one cloud” product development strategy.
The company previously announced the “eight panels, one network and one cloud” product development strategy, with the eight panels encompassing smartphones, tablets, notebooks, LED screens, all-in-one desktops, portable TVs, smart TVs and eWhiteboards, whereas the network stands for wire and wireless network in the digital convergence era, and the cloud represents cloud technology-related hardware and software.
HTML5 will be the next thing in the progression of software and operating system development, according to Hon Hai, adding that Web-based OS which can connect to the cloud will be the core of the next stage OS 3.0.
Software development progression is moving from PC and Internet to the cloud, and then to artificial intelligence, Hon Hai said, adding that the company is positioning itself in this progression trend.
The company's products and services aim to make headway into seven areas of people's lives: work, education, entertainment, social life, security, health and e-commerce, Hon Hai said.
