The THSRC's “T Express” app had previously allowed seat reservations within one hour of departure.
The app can be installed on all major smartphone platforms, including iOS, Android and Windows Phone. The software can also be used to make payments for train fares, and also sends boarding reminders via text messages.
However, the company advised travelers using iPhones to be mindful of glitches in its app as they update to Apple's recently released iOS7 mobile operating system. The firm added that it is currently working on a solution. Following the update to iOS7, travelers with iPhones are advised to uninstall and then reinstall the app to avoid glitches.
THSRC also said that travelers can now go to convenience stores at least 30 minutes in advance of departure time to refund the value of one or more tickets purchased as a batch. A refund receipt can be printed out at participating stores. Travelers are advised to then give that receipt to the store clerk within 10 minutes of printing for processing. Travelers will be subject to a service fee of NT$20 per ticket.
In addition, the company said that it plans to roll out a Japanese version of its website on Sept. 24, bringing more convenience for foreigners.
