The scholarships, funded by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office and partner organizations, operate in 118 countries worldwide, the BTCO said in a statement released on Thursday.
This year, the program will support over 600 established or emerging leaders, it noted. Awards are for a one-year master's degree in any subject and at any of the UK's leading universities.
The scholarships aim to support UK foreign policy priorities by creating lasting positive relationships with future leaders, influencers and decision-makers around the world, the BTCO said.
“The Chevening program provides a unique opportunity for leaders of the future to build a global network of continuing professional significance. It enables talented individuals to establish social, cultural, academic or commercial partnerships with the UK,” BTCO Director Chris Wood was quoted in the statement.
“With 2013 marking the 30th anniversary of the program, I hope that this year's Chevening Scholarships will continue to attract the very brightest and best,” he noted.
Applications for Chevening Scholarships must be submitted online at www.chevening.org. Applicants should read the online guidance and be able to demonstrate how they meet the Chevening selection criteria before submitting an application.
The deadline for applications is Nov. 15.
The BTCO also works with the Delta Electronics Foundation to provide additional joint scholarships for those who plan to use their skills to further environmental protection issues in Taiwan.
Further information on the applications of the two scholarship programs is available on the Chevening Taiwan homepage at www.chevening.org/taiwan and BTCO website at www.gov.uk/world/taiwan.
