Jeremy Lin gives advice to young talent, has fun

TAIPEI--Houston Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin shared some basketball tips with local young talent Saturday and encouraged them to pursue their dreams.

The 24-year-old NBA star first congratulated the school team of Taipei Municipal Jinhua Junior High School, which has won a local tourney for the second consecutive year.

In addition to teaching the youngsters how to improve their skills, such as crossover dribbles and layups, Lin also encouraged them in Mandarin Chinese to practice hard.

Limited mostly to English except for a few basic phrases during his previous visits to Taiwan, Lin's Mandarin has greatly improved over the past year.

The first NBA player of Taiwanese descent kicked off his eight-day visit to Taiwan in the early hours of Aug. 14, to be greeted by enthusiastic fans at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.
