Lasting from mid-July to late August this year, the meteor shower will peak between 2:15 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. on Aug. 13, the museum said.
Conditions for star-watching should be good after the new moon sets at around 10 p.m., Aug. 12, the museum said.
The Perseid shower has a rate of around 100 meteors per hour from a radiant near the North Star, where the Perseid meteoroids strike the Earth's atmosphere and burn up, according to the museum.
