Survey finds nearly 95% of campus bullying is covert

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Close to 95 percent of campus bullying in Taiwan is a covert type of aggression, wherein damage is done to the victim's relationships with others, according to a poll released on yesterday.

The poll, conducted by the Child Welfare League Foundation, found that 77 percent of schoolchildren who suffer from relational bullying suffer exclusively from that type of bullying; physical stature and looks are the most common reasons for schoolchildren being bullied.

Close to half of the respondents said their classmates suffer from relational aggression, but 57 percent had turned a blind eye to the bullying. Fifty-three percent of them had even made fun of the bullied victims.
