FSC encourages loans for Taiwan enterprisesBy Linger Liu, The China Post TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) yesterday said the total loans given to local enterprises amounted to NT$4.42 trillion in January this year.
March 10, 2013, 12:13 am TWN This amount, according to the commission, was less than last year by NT$25.8 billion because enterprises have a tendency to pay back loans before the Chinese New Year holidays. The FSC said 50.38 percent of local enterprises that apply for bank loans are the small- or medium-sized businesses. The FSC said the government encourages local enterprises to apply for loans in order to create better cash flow, which can in turn lead to greater profits. The government will also supervise the banks to ensure well-managed risk control while encouraging the institutions to give loans to local enterprises, the FSC said. It added that it hopes to see loans lent by local enterprises increase by NT$230 billion this year.
