2013 Hsing Yun Journalism Award prize to reach NT$11 mil.The China Post news staff TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The organizer of the Hsing Yun Journalism Award (星雲真善美新聞傳播獎) announced yesterday that the total amount of prize money this year will reach a record-high of NT$11 million.
March 7, 2013, 11:58 am TWN At the announcement press event yesterday, the Venerable Master Hsing Yun Public Education Trust Fund also said it will double the number of new-comer awards of the 2013 from five to 10. Different from other journalism awards, the Hsing Yun Journalism Award pays special attention on the quality of the “news gatekeepers” and compliments journalism professionals with exemplary records of journalism ethics and social responsibility, the organizer said. Now in its fifth year, the Hsing Yun Journalism Award is known as the Pulitzer Prize in the Chinese-speaking world after the Venerable Master Hsing Yun decided to expand the scope of the award to all Chinese speaking societies since the third year. The top, NT$2 million prize will go to the Chinese-speaking world lifetime award winner. Winners of the Media Contribution Awards (two to three openings) and the Journalism Education Contribution Award will each receive NT$1 million prize money.
