Cher Wang dropped from top 50 businesswomen list

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- HTC Chairwoman Cher Wang (王雪紅) was dropped from Forbes Asia's 2013 list of top businesswomen due to the trouble her company faces this year, according to the business magazine.

The magazine issued a statement explaining yesterday that their “criteria include accomplishments in the latest year, which for a troubled player like electronics giant HTC means that a prominent chairman [sic], Cher Wang, drops from the list.”

Wang was among the magazine's 50 Businesswomen in the Mix last year.

The 2013 list includes Japan's Yoshiko Shinohara, Chinese media mogul Yang Lan, Indian media baroness Shobhana Bhartia and Hong Kong shipping heiress Sabrina Sih Ming Chao.
