According to the ministry, Taiwan's industrial output index stood at 132.7 in January, a rise of 19.17 percent compared to January 2011 and the seventh straight monthly increase on a year-on-year basis.
However, the ministry reminded that the sharp increase had to do with a higher base period for comparison, as the Lunar New Year break for last year fell in January.
At the same time, the MOEA survey showed Taiwan's manufacturing index stood at 135.48 in January, a rise of 19.86 percent year-on-year.
