Taiwan's manufacturing sales down 3.61% in 2012
CNATAIPEI -- Taiwan's manufacturing sector saw sales fall to NT$12.78 trillion in 2012, a decrease of 3.61 percent from 2011, according to Economics Ministry statistics released yesterday.

Direct exports accounted for 51.56 percent of manufacturing sales last year, the highest level in recorded history, the statistics showed.
For the fourth quarter of 2012, manufacturing sales dropped 1.63 percent from a year earlier to NT$3.19 trillion.
Manufacturers of computers, electronics and opticals saw the biggest year-on-year sales decline of any major sector, with sales tumbling 20.34 percent to NT$860.3 billion for the year as a whole.
