Ledtech reports 9.21% increase in Jan. salesThe China Post news staff TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Ledtech, an light-emitting diode (LED) packaging firm, yesterday reported January consolidated sales of NT$148 million, a rise of 9.21 percent from December last year.
February 22, 2013, 4:53 pm TWN The firm attributed the increase to stepped-up shipments last month, which was a busy season for the LED industry. Meanwhile, due to a change in product mix, Ledtech saw an improvement in its gross profit margin in January. For the year, Ledtech expects gross profit margin to exceed 30 percent. Yet exchange rate losses contributed to the firm's January pre-tax earnings per share of NT$0.14, a slight decline from the NT$0.15 for December 2012. Separately, an increase in capacity utilization at LED firms also augurs a recovery of the industry this year. Some firms, including Epileds, are expecting an increase in capacity utilization to almost 100 percent after March. “A stable growth of the LED industry has been established, and our orders situation also suggests a good year to come,” Epileds said. “Many of our clients placed orders even before the Lunar New Year break, indicating their upbeat sentiment for the industry in the months ahead.” “Meanwhile, a price drop will come by a smaller margin this year than it did last year, setting the stage for a recovery in the industry,” Epileds added. “For us, capacity utilization has returned to 80 percent, and the figure will increase to 100 percent after March after our Chinese customers send their orders.”
