Fisherman's Association election gets politicalBy Linger Liu,The China Post TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Democratic Progressive Party Legislator Wu Ping-jui (吳秉叡) yesterday said the Council of Agriculture's (COA) administrative flaws have caused some candidates to lose their qualifications for the Gongliao District Fisherman's Association election.
February 22, 2013, 12:03 am TWN The legislator said the COA misinterpreted candidate applications, leading to the disqualifications. Wu said the council recently changed requirements for application. The council changed the definition of part-time and full-time work, said the legislator. The legislator said it is unreasonable to change the requirements so close to the election, which is set for March 16. He said this decision may have been made because of political reasons. He said, according to law, contracted government employees cannot have a part-time job. Wu said to be a member of the Fisherman's Association is a qualification, not a profession.
