First Lunar New Year bazaar at WTC in 2014CNA TAIPEI--The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) is planning to stage a Lunar New Year bazaar for the first time at the Taipei World Trade Center (WTC) in 2014, according to the organizers.
February 18, 2013, 12:09 am TWN “In order to boost the shopping spree before the Lunar New Year, we'd like to provide an alternative venue for the public,” said TAITRA's Kelly Wang, who is in charge of the event. When people think of going Lunar New Year shopping in Taipei, Wang said, they usually go to Dihua Street in the western part of the capital. With the weeklong event at the WTC Exhibition Hall 3, it may move some crowds to the eastern part, she added. The Dihua Street market has emerged as an attractive site for those wishing to experience the Lunar New Year atmosphere, and the area tends to draw huge crowds seeking special holiday treats in the run-up to the festival. The event is scheduled to take place from Jan. 16 to 22 next year, with 120 businesses expected to occupy some 300 booths, the organizers said.
