New Premier set to hold forum with Cabinet on Feb. 23
The China Post news staffTAIPEI, Taiwan -- Premier Jiang Yi-huah (江宜樺) will hold a symposium with all members of the Cabinet on Feb. 23 after taking office on Feb. 18, the Executive Yuan said yesterday.

The Executive Yuan said that Jiang will be sworn in as the new Premier next Monday in a ceremony held by President Ma Ying-jeou.
According to the Executive Yuan, Jiang will demand that all Cabinet officials be well-prepared for their jobs by the time of the meeting.
The Executive Yuan said Jiang had discussions with heads of ministries, including the Ministry of Education, the Department of Health, and the Council of Agriculture, during this Chinese New Year holiday as part of preparing for his new role.
Outgoing Premier Sean Chen and some related officials officially resigned on Feb. 7. The Cabinet has undergone a major reshuffle after Chen decided in January to resign. Transportation Minister Mao Chi-kuo (毛治國) will fill in as Vice Premier to replace Jiang.
Mao's deputy, Yeh Kuang-shih, will be promoted to head the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.
The Cabinet reshuffle also includes China Airlines Chairman Chang Chia-juch (張家祝), who will come in to head the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), and Minister without Portfolio Kuan Chung-ming, who is taking over the Council for Economic Planning and Development.
Taipei Deputy Mayor Chen Wei-jen (陳威仁) has been named as Executive Yuan secretary-general.
Deputy Interior Minister Chien Tai-lang (簡太郎) will become Cabinet deputy secretary-general, and his vacant position will be filled by Taichung Deputy Mayor Hsiao Chia-chi (蕭家淇).
