The New Taipei City Government said that with the completion of the highway, it will cut the driving time from Wugu Interchange of National Freeway No. 1 to Tucheng Interchange of National Freeway No. 3 from 40 minutes to 13 minutes.
Vice President Wu Den-yih, who attended the opening ceremony yesterday, said that New Taipei City now has greater developing potential with the completion of the northern highway network network and other public transportation constructions.
New Taipei Mayor Eric Chu said that Provincial Highway 65 and Huanhe Expressway, which was opened to traffic on Tuesday, will bring a critical change to the transportation system of New Taipei City.
“The northern highway network will help connect 92 percent of New Taipei City residents — about 3.6 million people,” Chu said.
According to the New Taipei government, the total length of Provincial Highway 65 is about 12.8 kilometers. The Xinzhuang and Banqiao section of the highway will be the last section to be opened to traffic, which is scheduled for today.
