Taiwanese Go champion retakes women's Kisei titleCNA TOKYO--Japan-based Taiwanese Go player Hsieh Yi-min (謝依旻) once again holds all three major Japanese women's Go titles after winning the women's Kisei (棋聖) championship in Tokyo yesterday.
January 29, 2013, 12:38 am TWN Hsieh defeated defending Kisei champion Kikuyo Aoki 2-0 in the best of-three match to reclaim the title she lost to Aoki last February. The Miaoli native said her situation was not favorable midway through the contest, but her persistence and perhaps some overconfidence on Aoki's part saw her through. The 23-year-old Hsieh won 5 million Japanese yen (US$55,092) in prize money for winning the tournament, one of the three most prestigious in Japan for women Go players, along with the women's Honinbo and women's Meijin.
