The effects of the front could be especially pronounced in northeastern Taiwan, with overnight temperatures dropping to some 13 degrees Celsius, the bureau said.
The daytime mercury is also expected to fall by 2 to 5 degrees Celsius islandwide from the following day, with scattered cloud likely over most of Taiwan, it said.
The bureau also cautioned of strong wind likely in coastal areas and around the outlying islands of Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu under the influence of the cold front, which is expected to prevail until Jan. 29.
