Designer 'in shock' about first lady's design choiceCNA PORTLAND, Oregon--Taiwan-born U.S.-based designer Jason Wu said Tuesday that he was “in shock” when U.S. first lady Michelle Obama wore one of his gowns for a second time to U.S. President Barack Obama's inaugural ball, making another of his creations “a part of American history.”
January 24, 2013, 12:03 am TWN Wu tweeted “in shock” while watching the event on TV, and said later in an interview with NBC's “Today” show that although he worked closely with the first lady's team, he did not know if she had chosen his design until the second she stepped into the glare of the media light. Dressing the U.S. first lady “never gets old,” Wu said, adding that “just to realize it's a place in history, my work in American history, it's amazing,” Wu said on the TV show.
