The production crew began filming the rigorous training regimens faced by the Marine Crops Amphibious Reconnaissance and Patrol Unit at a naval base in Kaohsiung last April, the Ministry of National Defense said yesterday.
After the completion of the filming, which took several months, the channel released a preview of the program Saturday. The video can be accessed on the Facebook pages of both the channel and the ministry.
The program relates stories behind the arduous 10-week training for the unit, which includes crawling over stones and a six-day task that requires trainees to finish a long run, swim in the sea and row during the night, the ministry said.
The program is scheduled to be broadcast in July, it said.
The cooperation came after the channel produced a documentary recording Air Force exercises that took place in 2011.
Titled “Inside: Highway, Runway,” the film, featuring the Hankuang 27 Road Runway Exercise in 2011 that involved using a southern Taiwan highway as a military airstrip, was broadcast in October of that year.
