Ma taps envoys to attend US leader's inaugurationCNA WASHINGTON--Legislative Speaker Wang Jin-pyng will attend U.S. President Barack Obama's inauguration ceremony on Jan. 21 on behalf of President Ma Ying-jeou, according to Taiwan's representative office in Washington, D.C.
January 20, 2013, 12:04 am TWN Wang, who will head a six-member official delegation, will leave Taiwan on Jan. 19. After arriving in Washington, D.C., the group will attend a dinner with Taiwanese expatriates on Jan. 20 and attend the inauguration ceremony together with Taiwan's representative to the United States King Pu-tsung the next day, the office said. The other five members of the delegation are ruling Kuomintang (KMT) Vice Chairman John Chiang, KMT lawmakers Lai Shyh-bao and Hsieh Kuo-liang, and opposition Democratic Progressive Party lawmakers Lee Ying-yuan and Chen Tan-sun. The Taiwanese delegation is scheduled to arrive back in Taiwan on Jan. 24.
