Vice premier urges speeding up of Taoyuan airport developmentBy Linger Liu, The China Post TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Vice Premier Jiang Yi-hua (江宜樺) yesterday called for the construction process on the Taoyuan Aerotropolis project to be sped up, during a construction team meeting yesterday.

Jiang said construction on the development should begin by 2014. Jiang said that to take care of land expropriation issues, he has requested the Ministry of the Interior to accelerate to examination process, and to pass necessary laws by the end of 2013. Doing this can ensure that the third airdrome runway can be completed around 2019. He also said the construction work should complete the entire process of land expropriation by the end of 2019. The vice premier said that the future third terminal of the Taoyuan airport will begin exploring business opportunities by 2018. Future Business Development Jiang said that in the future there will be many major construction projects going on in Taoyuan airport at one time, so he will request the airport to quickly develop a standard procedure on inviting public bidding. He also said that the Ministry of Economic Affairs should form a team to take care of the water and power supply for the construction project, and should schedule seminars for business development and projects on attracting investors. |
