Chances are high that Northern, Central and Eastern Taiwan could see lows of between 9 and 11 degrees, the bureau said, while coastal areas could expect the mercury to dip as low as 7 degrees.
The weather could be at its coldest between Thursday and Friday, with northern and eastern Taiwan likely to see rainfall, forecasters said.
The bureau also cautioned of strong gusty winds from Thursday to Saturday in Southern Taiwan and the outlying islands of Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu.
The chill could start to ease up from Saturday, when clear skies are expected countrywide, it said.
Tamsui in Northern Taiwan recorded this winter's lowest temperature last Dec. 30, reaching a low of 7.3 degrees.
