Mayor Hu of Taichung satisfied with daughter's marriage to HK rock starThe China Post news staff TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Taichung City Mayor Jason Hu, whose daughter was quietly married on Tuesday, said yesterday that he's satisfied with his son-in-law, whom he thinks will be a good husband.
January 17, 2013, 12:03 am TWN Judy Ting-ting Hu married Julio Acconci, an elder member of Soler, a Hong Kong-based rock duo originally from Macau. Julio and his younger brother Dino, the band's other member, were born and raised in Macau, and their father is an Italian and mother a Burmese. As Ting-ting decided to have a low-profile wedding ceremony, Mayor Hu told reporters that he fully recognized and respected his daughter's decision. Therefore, Hu invited only eight guests, including three deputy Taichung mayors, while his daughter invited around 10 guests, according to the mayor. Hu said that he met his son-in-law for the first more than 10 days ago, and found Julio a trustworthy man after meeting him for the third time. In fact, Hu said, Ting-ting had long claimed she would stay single — until she met Julio, her “Mr. Right.” “Ever since her birth, Ting-ting has been my beloved baby, and I always think that under the sun, there is no man good enough to marry her,” Hu said. “But Julio is the best man I have ever met and will become a very good husband to my daughter. “Now that my daughter has decided to marry Julio, all I can do is extend my sincere blessing to her choice and decision, and I hope she takes good care of her marriage,” Hu said. The mayor also cited his daughter as saying at the wedding ceremony: “In my mind, my father is the best man and my husband is the second best man in the world.”
