Foreign minister advocates more visits from US touristsCNA TAIPEI--Foreign Minister David Lin yesterday urged U.S. nationals to take advantage of a reciprocal visa arrangement with Taiwan and make more visits to the island.
January 11, 2013, 12:01 am TWN “We have extended the maximum visa-free stay from 30 to 90 days to draw more American visitors to Taiwan,” Lin said. The extension was implemented on Nov. 1 last year, the same day Taiwan's admission to the U.S. Visa Waiver Program (VWP) took effect. “Therefore, we hope this kind of (Taiwan-U.S.) engagement will be a two-way, mutual relationship. We also expect to draw more U.S. visitors to Taiwan,” Lin said at a prize-giving ceremony in Taipei for winners of a foreign ministry quiz on the VWP.
