New license plates will not fit some car models: officialThe China Post news staff TAIPEI, Taiwan -- New models of license plates issued in December last year do not fit numerous motorcycle and car models, the Directorate General of Highways (DGH) said yesterday.
January 8, 2013, 12:01 am TWN The DGH said that the new license plate has six instead of seven numbers and letters, which results in a wider plate. It is estimated that 270,000 motorcycles and cars that need new license plates can only use the older model. Kaohsiung City Motor Vehicles Office (MVO) Secretary-General Chang Jen-fu (張仁富) said that the new license plate for motorcycles would block exhaust pipes and rear turn signals for certain models of motorcycles. According to the Kaohsiung City MVO, since the launch of the new license plate, they distributed twice as many old license plates compared to the new ones for motorcycles.
