Popstars named to promote tourism in East Asia marketsCNA TAIPEI--Entertainer Show Lo will serve as a tourism spokesman in Japan, while actress Ivy Chen will be the face of Taiwan's tourism in South Korea, starting this year, the bureau said.

Lo, a singer, television host and an actor, is well known in the entertainment industry both in Taiwan and Japan. He speaks Japanese and was rated as the most popular ethnic Chinese entertainer on a billboard list in Japan. His appointment as a tourism spokesman is expected to draw an increasing number of female Japanese visitors to Taiwan, the bureau said. He will star in a promotional video and hold functions to meet with fans in Japan, the bureau said. In addition, the bureau said, it plans to organize events in Taiwan such as food festivals and cycling activities to attract special interest Japanese groups.
