Nearly 40% of OTC firms list over 5% dividend yieldCNA TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The GreTai Securities Market (GTSM) said Wednesday almost 40 percent of the companies listed on the local over-the-counter (OTC) market had registered a dividend yield of more than 5 percent as of the end of December.
January 3, 2013, 12:02 am TWN The GTSM, which operates the local OTC market, said 240 companies, or 37.7 percent of the OTC-listed firms, reported a dividend yield of more than 5 percent, with 47 of them reporting a dividend yield of more than 10 percent. A dividend yield refers to a ratio of the dividend over a company's share price. The figure is used to measure the return on stock investments. The return on the majority of investments in the local OTC market has been much better than the 1.355 percent annual interest rate on time deposits at Bank of Taiwan, the country's biggest lender, the GTSM said.
