Local tourism commercial broadcast in Times SquareCNA NEW YORK--A commercial produced by Taiwan's tourism authorities was broadcast on a huge electronic screen in New York's Times Square Monday as around 1 million revelers swarmed into the world-renowned intersection to observe the famous ball drop in the countdown to the New Year.

It was the third time Taiwan's Tourism Bureau had sponsored the commercial in the year-end celebration in Times Square, said Andrew Kao, head of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York.
