Adopted stray dog from Taiwan to celebrate Canadian Christmas

TAIPEI--A stray dog that was adopted by a Canadian dog lover will celebrate its first white Christmas in Vancouver this week, proud volunteers with Animal Rescue Team Taiwan said Sunday.

The volunteers recently received photos of the black terrier named Roy sitting on Santa Claus' lap along with its canine friends, and they said they were happy to see Roy doing well and that their effort had paid off.

The volunteers saved the dog when they found it in a pile of garbage in Kaohsiung in October.

They said Roy was plagued by a serious skin ailment when they first found him, but after being treated for a month, the dog recovered and was later adopted by a Canadian family.
