Hsieh denied semis chance at season's last WTA eventCNA TAIPEI--Taiwan's Hsieh Su-wei failed to qualify for semifinals of the season-ending WTA Tournament of Champions after losing to Roberta Vinci of Italy 6-1, 6-2 in her second group match in Sofia, Bulgaria on Thursday.
November 3, 2012, 12:03 am TWN Prior to the match, the 26-year-old veteran posted a picture on her Facebook page of her kneeling in prayer on a tennis court while holding her racket, and wrote the request: “Please. Let me put more balls into the court.” The appeal fell on deaf ears, apparently, because the world No. 27 went down to her second straight lopsided defeat at the prestigious US$750,000 tournament. Hsieh was broken in five of her seven service games, while breaking the world No. 16 Italian only once. She won only 41 percent of the points in which she got her first serve in, compared with the Italian's 83 percent, on the fast indoor court.
